Chinatown and the Lower East Side of Manhattan have been and continue to be where America begins for many new arrivals to the country.  Immigrant groups, including the Irish, Germans, Jews, Chinese, and many others have left their own distinctive marks in these neighborhoods.  In recent decades, this area has become a major destination for its nightlife and its artistic spirit.  Some of the sights that will be discussed on this tour include:

-Chinatown
-Little Italy/Italian American Museum
-Lower East Side
-New Museum
-St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral
-Tompkins Square Park
-Second Avenue/Yiddish Rialto

    We just did the Lower East tour with my mom, nephew (8), husband and kids (12, 10 and 7). It was great. Sam knows so much and we learned a lot! We started in Chinatown and ended in Strauss Park. Great tour!
